Instructor & Competition Company Choreographer
Started May 2015-Present

Kristin Marshall is a performer, instructor, and choreographer who fell in love with dance for its ability to express what words cannot. When an individual's emotions and story resonate with a viewer, no matter the form of media, it is powerful. It's that feeling that made her certain the arts and specifically dance would be her calling. Kristin began dancing at 3 years old and hasn’t stopped moving since. In Henderson, NV she trained in Royal Academy of Dance ballet as well as International Standard of Dance tap and jazz. After moving to Sacramento she began to focus solely on classical ballet until attending CSUS showed her an expansive and exciting world of modern dance. Sacramento State provided many opportunities professionally and academically. In 2018 she obtained her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a Minor in Dance. Her major in marketing gave her the chance to work with local businesses to improve their visibility in Sacramento as well as work on special projects for the Department of Theater and Dance at CSUS. Her minor provided her with the opportunity to study and perform under the direction of professors such as Diavolo Alumni Philip Flickinger, New York City Ballet Soloist Nolan T'Sani, and Sacramento Black Art of Dance founder Dr. Linda Goodrich.

After college Kristin has continued to teach and perform in the Sacramento community. She is currently an instructor at Fancy Feet Dance Academy and choreographs for their Velocity Competition Team. In addition to teaching she had danced for Philip Flickinger and performed in Sacramento Dance Sampler 2018 as well as at Crocker Art Museum’s UNite. She has also had the opportunity to collaborate and perform with GGprojects and is working on producing ideas of her own with KNMotion. Kristin is currently in her second season with Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theater and is inspired by dancers she shares the stage with every show. She enjoys dancing with the artistic direction of Jacob Gutiérrez-Montoya and values the impact SCDT makes through arts in the community. She has found a purpose and passion in dance by sharing her knowledge and art with those around her.
